Yang di-Pertuan Agong Conferred Turkey’s Highest Award by President Erdogan

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has graciously agreed to receive the highest award of the Turkish government, the Turkish Order of the State, in conjunction with the State Visit to Turkey.
The highest award presented by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Palace makes His Majesty the first ASEAN Head of State to receive the prestigious award.
His Majesty was among the five national leaders who received the medal under the leadership of Erdogan, in addition to the King of Saudi Arabia – King Salman Abdul Aziz, the King of Belgium – King Philip, the Emir of Kuwait – Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the President of Tunisia – Beji Caid Essebsi.
Meanwhile, in the same ceremony, His Majesty also agreed to bestow the country’s highest award, the National Crown Seri Darjah Utama (D.M.N) to President Erdogan.
The title of D.M.N is bestowed on the Sultan or King who rules the state, but the title can also be conferred on an honorary basis to foreigners and most respected people.
Apart from President Erdogan, among the overseas honourees who have been awarded D.M.N before are Queen Elizabeth, Emir of Qatar – Sheikh Hamad Khalifa Al-Tahni, King of Saudi Arabia – King Salman Abdul Aziz and wife of the Sultan of Brunei – Raja Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha.
After the conferment, His Majesty then agreed to watch a traditional concert hosted by President Erdogan.
Also accompanying His Majesty were Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandaria and princesses Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafizatullah and Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Jihan Azizah ‘Athiyatullah.
Earlier, His Majesty both agreed to attend the National Banquet with President Erdogan and his wife Emine Erdogan at the Presidential Palace after the National Reception.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja Permaisuri managed to complete their busy schedule during the seven-day State Visit in Ankara and Istanbul.
