Woman swaps fancy office attire for butcher's apron

She swapped her fancy office attire to don a butcher's apron and sell chicken at the Chow Kit Market in Kuala Lumpur.

Since then, there has been no looking back for 25-year-old Ummi Safiyyah Baharudin who now runs a butcher stall with her cousin, Nur Farah Izzati Halim, 25.

The Sentul lass said she has no qualms working at the market, as long as it is halal.

“It took me three months to master cutting chicken using the right techniques to ensure customers are happy," she said.

She said there were some customers who also joked about wanting to get to know her, but she has gotten used to it and just brushes it off.

Though young, she is not ashamed to work in the wet market, as she has always wanted to run her own business.

“Of course, there are some inconveniences when cutting chicken, but it comes with the job,” she added.
