Swiftly after his appointment, the Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke Siew Fook started a survey to assess the actual situation of the light rail transit (LRT) service on the Kelana Jaya route.
In an update on Facebook, Loke informed that he conducted the survey alone during peak hours, between 5 and 7 pm yesterday.
Through some of the pictures that were also uploaded, it can be seen that Loke was only wearing a casual shirt complete with a cap and face mask. He went unnoticed by the public as well as the auxiliary police who were at the LRT station.
"This afternoon, I spent 2 hours to review the actual situation of the LRT KJ line service during peak hour between 5-7pm.
"The situation is quite crowded in the train and of course it is not comfortable for the passengers.
"I did not inform the infrastructure management and the media because I wanted to experience the real situation myself like ordinary passengers to feel what they have to go through every day," he wrote.
At the end of the message, Loke informed that he will hold a meeting with the top management of Prasarana this week to discuss the direction and ways to improve public transport services.
