Tourism Malaysia through its offices in Russia, Uzbekistan and Turkey is now organizing the 'Truly Malaysia' Tour to attract tourists back to Malaysia.

Tourism Malaysia in a statement said the tour started in Moscow, followed by Tashkent, Almaty and Istanbul from 12 to 20 September.

The tour provides a platform for both local sellers and buyers to participate in business matching (B2B) sessions and product presentations to revitalize the tourism industry and reconnect tourists, as well as create new partners to increase opportunities to stimulate tourist arrivals to Malaysia.

"Among the main attractions is Malaysia's ethnic and cultural diversity, which results in a 'mixed' yet harmonious legacy, which is highlighted in festivals, architecture, clothing, language, cuisine and other aspects of daily life.

"Although the previous two years have been very challenging, we are happy to announce that Malaysia has surpassed the initial target of two million international tourist arrivals since the re-opening of our international borders," said Tourism Malaysia Acting Deputy Director General (Planning) Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof at the first session of the tour in Moscow.

He said Tourism Malaysia has set a new target of 9.2 million international tourist arrivals with tourism receipts amounting to RM26.8 billion this year.

According to the statement, Malaysia has relaxed entry procedures for travellers who are fully vaccinated i.e. they do not need to undergo pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 screening and quarantine, and do not require travel insurance as a prerequisite to enter the country.
