The national men's doubles and mixed doubles ensured Malaysia’s spot at the final stage of the Taiwan Open 2023 after the pairs managed to clear the semi-final hurdle at the Tian-Mu Arena yesterday.

In the semi-finals, the defending champions Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun however did not have an easy fight against compatriot Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi who was also the first choice of the tournament.

Wei Chong-Kai Wun, who were seeded fifth, lost the first set 17-21, but came back to win the second set 21-19 before sealing the victory with 21-9.

The national men's doubles opponent in the final stage is the home team's representative either Lin Chia Yu-Lin Yong Sheng or second seed Lu Ching Yao-Yang Po Han who are in action in another semi-final.

As for the mixed doubles of Cheng Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wi, they are on the right track to hunt for their second Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour title after easily eliminating the host representative Ye Hong Wei-Lee Chia Hsin 21-14, 21-19.

The 19th-ranked pair in the world will face home team representatives Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Lin Xiao Min who defeated compatriots Tseng Min Hao-Hsieh Pei Shan 21-10, 21-8.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei won the Orleans Masters in France last April, which was also their maiden BWF World Tour championship.
