SEA Games: Thor Chuan Leong Makes Stellar Comeback to Win Gold After Eight Years

After about 48 hours, Malaysia again reaped the gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games through billiards contributed by Thor Chuan Leong in the men's singles snooker event.

By beating Thailand's Akani Songsermsawad in the final stage, which took place at Aeon Mall Sen Sok, Chuan Leong won the gold after eight years. The last time he won in the 2015 edition in Singapore.

He displayed a stellar performance by winning 4-1 (74-42, 67-48, 53-72, 53-17, 63-21).

Another national athlete Lim Kok Leong shared the bronze medal with host representative Sophanith Men.

The success saw the target of two golds set by the Malaysian Snooker and Billiards Federation at the Games achieved, after Moh Keen Ho contributed the first gold of the national snooker camp in the individual 6-Red event, last Tuesday.

Chuan Leong now has a total of five SEA Games gold medals after winning the men's doubles event in the 2011 edition in Palembang, Indonesia and 2015 in Singapore in addition to the 6-Red singles event in the 2013 edition in Myanmar.
