Roadside Ikan Bakar saves the day for those stranded due to floods in Pahang

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; feed a road full of stranded travellers some ikan bakar for a day, and you save the day.
When the going gets tough, Malaysians such as this couple know how to get going. A local netizen, Kakmi ps guangzhou (@imimaysrunnia) took to Twitter to show how her parents-in-law chose to cook ikan bakar by the side of the road and shared it with everyone stranded on the road near Kuala Lipis – Raub. Initially, the fishes they packed from Kenyir Eco Resort were for their friends.

“Alhamdulillah, everyone is safe. My parents-in-law were stranded near Kuala Lipis – Raub for 24 hours,” wrote Kakmi. “There was no food but luckily they were just heading back from the Kenyir Eco Resort, with fishes they were bringing back for their friends. They got to share it with those stranded together with them.”
With materials gathered from nature and items they have on themselves, they set up a makeshift grill to cook the fishes. Some of those who were stranded with them helped them too!
“Look at the happy faces of those who got to eat. Abah and a few other guys searched for wood to grill the fishes. Thank you, Malaysians,” Kakmi added.
The willingness and compassion of this couple in sharing their food with those around them shows us what it means to be truly Malaysia, and sets an example for all of us to follow.
