The government has declared this Friday (Nov 18) and Saturday (Nov 19) as public holidays to encourage people to come out and vote on polling day.

Announcing the holidays, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said a total 21,738,638 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots on Nov 19.

There are a total 9,536 polling centres nationwide.

They will vote for elected representatives at 222 parliamentary constituencies and 116 states seats in Perlis, Perak and Pahang.

He also said that 30 highway concessionaires had also agreed to go toll-free on both the days.

"The free toll will start from 12.01am on Nov 18 until 11.59pm on Nov 19 involving all private vehicles, with Class 1 (vehicles) alone estimated to be around 90 per cent of the total number of vehicles on the highways,” he said.
