PTPTN’s New Initiative Ensures Every Student Gets a Chance at Tertiary Education

As an agency that always strives to look after the welfare of students, especially the borrowers of its education fund, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) provides various initiatives for the benefit of students.

Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad announced that PTPTN is pleased to provide the KPT-PTPTN Prihatin study assistance to a total of 38 students from the Parit Sulong parliamentary constituency, who are currently studying at institutes of higher education (IPT) across the country.

"This aid aims to help students who are less able to cover the cost of living at an IPT.”

"A total of RM19,000 has also been allocated for this initiative and each student will receive RM500 as a one-off directly into their bank account," she said at the New Student Development Program and Friendly Session with the Minister of Higher Education at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. (UTHM), Batu Pahat, on Thursday.

According to Noraini, PTPTN also provides Loan Advances or WPP to new students who successfully continued their studies at IPTAs (Institute of Public Higher Education) and Polytechnic.

She said that the grant of WPP allows new students to make early preparations such as buying clothes, equipment for learning, as transportation costs and to pay part of the tuition fees.

At the same time, this is also one of PTPTN's efforts to ensure that no student fails to enter IPT due to financial problems.

"Alhamdulillah, for the admission of undergraduate students to IPTA and Polytechnic for the October 2022 session, a total of 28,278 students have been offered WPP involving an allocation of RM42.4 million.

"In the state of Johor alone, a total of 3,520 students were offered WPP with an allocation of RM5.28 million, while for Parit Sulong Parliament alone, a total of 108 students who have been identified were offered WPP with an allocation of RM162,000," she stated.

The WPP offer letter has a validity period of two months and for the WPP offer that will be delivered today, the validity period is from 5 October to 5 December this year.

Students who get the WPP offer letters can redeem it at any Bank Islam counter by bringing the offer letter and showing their MyKad for self-verification.
