Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah Successfully Advanced to Quaterfinals of German Open

Malaysian badminton women's doubles duo Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah have eliminated Scottish pair Julie Macpherson-Ciara Torrance 21-18, 21-15 in 39 minutes to book their place in the quarterfinals of the German Open tournament.

The world number six doubles will face the upcoming challenge by Japanese pair Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara.

Another representative of Malaysia in the quarterfinals is the mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Teoh Ee Wei, who defeated the South Korean players Seo Seung Jae-Chae Yu Jung 21-11, 24-22.

They will later face another South Korean pair, Kim Won Ho-Jeong Na Eun in the next round.

In similar news, former doubles shuttler Woon Khe Wei has urged the juniors to step up and increase more tool. Currently, the whole nation is dependent on Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah when it comes to female talents.

“I think they (Pearly-Thinaah) are quite good because their playing style is different from ours. They play a variety of styles, and their shots are powerful,” said Khe Wei regarding her partnership with Vivian Hoo.
