Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee just made history with their recent victory!

The national pair qualified for next year’s Tokyo Olympics after coming in second at the World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. While their fellow comrades from China may have taken the lead with 345.24 points, this was an improvement for the Malaysian team.

Unlike their previous participation in two previous competitions in 2009 and 2013, the duo took home a silver medal this time, making them the first Malaysian pair to qualify for the Olympics.

Despite doubts about the pair’s chances of winning due to changes in the coaching setup, the duo remained focus and continued working towards their goal. This in return led to their victory.

Individually, Pandelela hopes to increase her number of medals with her fourth appearance at the Olympics next year while Mun Yee looks forward to compete for the fifth time in the world’s leading sporting competition.

This sweet victory goes to show that no matter what obstacles we may encounter along the way, it is always possible to achieve our goals as long as we stay focused and motivated.
