Malaysian Youth Badminton Squad Defeats Latvia with Clean Sweep 5-0

Malaysia managed to continue its excellent streak after claiming their second victory by defeating Latvia 5-0 in Group A of the 2022 World Youth Mixed Team Badminton Championships in Spain, on Tuesday.
The national youth squad won the first point through mixed doubles Choi Jian Sheng-Lai Ting Cen who defeated Rihards Zugs-Arina Babre 21-12, 21-8 at Paalcio de Deportes de Santander.
Men's singles player Justin Hoh easily won over Toms Salam 21-4, 21-3 to gain the second point, followed by women's singles Siti Nurshuhaini Azman who contributed the third point with a 21-10, 21-8 victory over Anna Kupca.
The pairing of Muhammad Fazriq Mohamad Razif-Wong Vin Sean extended the points for the national team after defeating the Latvian men's doubles, Edzus Meirans-Rihards Zugs 21-11, 21-7 before the women's doubles Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting completed the victory by defeating Arina Babre-Anna Kupca 21 -4, 21-8.
Malaysia, who started the campaign in Group A by beating Sweden 5-0 on Monday, will face Indonesia today, to grab a slot in the quarterfinals.
A total of 38 countries drawn into eight groups took part in the mixed team event.
