Mohamad Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil's success in achieving fourth place in Stage 1 of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2023 on Saturday proves that the Malaysian national team is on a roll to greater heights.

In fact, the line-up of six national riders under the guidance of head coach Mohd Yusof Nasir showed that their presence at the LTdL this time should not be taken lightly.

At the end of Stage 1 from Kerteh to Kuala Terengganu with a route distance of 187.4 kilometers (km), Malaysia emerged as the best overall team and the best team in Asia.

The success is a historic moment for the Malaysian national team throughout the organization of LTdL since the inaugural edition in 1996.

"Yes. This is history for the Malaysian national team. We have never won the first position in any team classification since the LTdL was organized.

"I hope the national riders will continue to maintain this positive momentum in the upcoming race," said the Vice President of the National Cycling Federation of Malaysia (PKBM), Norazman Abu Samah.

As for the overall best team position, Malaysia leads the WorldTour team ahead of Astana Qazaqstan Team which is in second place and Green Project Bardiani CSF-Faizane who is in third place.

Congratulations to the Malaysian contingent for its magnificent achievement!
