Malaysian Contingent Rakes Four More Gold Medals in 2023 SEA Games

The Malaysian contingent added four gold medals on Sunday and managed to climb two places to seventh place after the second day of the 2023 SEA Games, which officially commenced on Friday.
The karate squad produced a stellar performance by contributing two gold medals. On the other hand, the pencak silat and petanque squad each bagged one gold medal.
With a total of four gold medals, the national contingent now has accumulated a total of six gold medal, 10 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.
The host, Cambodia continues to be at the top of the table after winning 29 gold, 21 silver and 22 bronze medals, followed by Thailand who won 16-17-26 and Indonesia with 16-11-24.
The karate team, as defending champions, is hopeful in contributing another gold medal in the men’s team kumite event.
The third day of the event will see national athletes compete in the diving and athletics tournaments.
The diving squad emerged as the most outstanding team in the previous edition in Hanoi, Vietnam last year when it swept eight gold medals. The team continues to be one of the country’s pillars to add to the golden shine.
The athletics team will be aiming for 10 gold medals this time. Jackie Wong and Grace Wong, who both won gold in the men’s and women’s category in Hanoi, will be competing at the Morodok Techo National Stadium today.
