A customer in Singapore who mistakenly paid SGD400 (RM1,348) for an SGD4 (RM13.48) meal was pleasantly surprised when the hawker stall owner located him and returned his money.
The incident unfolded recently at Ah Gong Teochew Noodle which has three outlets in Singapore.
After the customer overpaid, the business posted the overpayment incident on its official Facebook page to alert and refund the customer.
The post contained the exact date and time the transaction was made. It also said that if they fail to locate the customer by year-end, the overpaid amount will be donated to the less fortunate.
Fortunately, with efforts by netizens in Singapore and Malaysia, the customer was notified and contacted the stall owner.
The customer thanked everyone for their help and was very thankful for getting back the money he had overpaid.
Netizens have since praised the stall owner for his honesty in reaching out to the customer instead of just keeping the overpaid amount.
