Fans of the monstrous lizard known as Godzilla are in for a treat with "Godzilla Minus One" set to be released in the United States next month.

Written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the movie is set in the 1940s in postwar Japan.

In the first trailer for the movie, Godzilla is seen wreaking havoc on the country as it tears down buildings and hurls ships out of the ocean.

The movie opened in Japan recently and is already a huge hit raking in over USD$6.6 million in just a few days.

"Godzilla Minus One" is totally separate from the recent Hollywood movies like "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" in 2019 and "Godzilla vs Kong" (2021).

Yamazaki called the new movie the “culmination of all the films” he’s made so far, before calling Minus One something that needs to be “experienced” instead of simply being “watched” in the theatre.
