In an effort to ease the burden of tertiary students who fly between Peninsula and Sabah, Sarawak, the government is looking into providing credit funds which can be used to book fligh tickets,
According to Transport Minister, Anthony Loke, they tried to introduce the scheme this year, but it was not approved by the Finance Ministry yet.
"We will try again for next year to provide credit aid for the flights, similar to the book aid," he said.
He also said that the government will continue to push for more flights to be made available for students to fly during the period.
During the recent Chinese New Year period, extra flights were offered at a fixed rate to allow students to return to their hometown.
High ticket prices during festival period has been a concern amongst the tertiary students almost every year who wanted to fly back to their home.
This has prompted the government to intervene in order for the airline companies to offer flights at discounted prices.
