Convicts Put Lock-Picking Skills To Use To Save Baby Girl

So many people look down on convicts and don’t even give them a second look, let alone a second chance. But some convicts, given the opportunity, show how nice they can be. An occasion to do a good deed was given to some low-level convicts on Feb 14 in Tampa, Florida.

A one-year-old baby girl was accidentally locked in a car in Pasco County. Her father had strapped her into the car seat at the back of their Chevy Tahoe and then tossed the car keys to the front seat. Forgetting that he had done this, he closed the car door behind him.

Hearing her parents’ cries for help, five inmates who were repairing medians nearby and their supervising police officers rushed to their aid. The inmates were then given permission to put their lock-picking skills to use.

By using a clothes hanger, they picked the car lock within just five minutes! Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said that an inmate was allowed to use his lock-picking skills as it was for the right reasons.

“There’s only a very small percentage of those criminals out there that want to fight us and want to attack us, but a lot of them, like these individuals, they know they made bad mistakes, bad choices, but they want to do the right thing in life,” Nocco added.

A video of the incident was recorded by the baby’s mother, Shadow Lantry, was uploaded on her Facebook account and soon went viral with many netizens showering the inmates with praise for their rescue.

The couple could not afford a locksmith which was why the inmates were given permission to pick the car’s lock. Once the unlocking process was finished, Shadow is heard saying, “Thank God for the criminals in the world. I respect y’all,” in the background.

The baby girl was rescued unhurt and safely returned to her parents arms. Truly, thank god for THESE criminals for being at the right place at the right time. 2019 has been a surprising year so far, and let’s hope the nice surprises don’t stop here.
