Extraction 2 which sees the return of Chris Hemsworth as black ops mercenary, Tyler Rake has set a new record for Netflix.

Data revealed that the movie has been viewed 88.4 million hours during its opening weekend from June 16 to 18.

This is a new record for Netflix's opening weekend of 2023, beating the 83.7 million viewing hours for The Mother, starring Jennifer Lopez.

In Extraction 2, Rake embarks on another deadly mission to save a ruthless gangster's imprisoned family.

There are cameos from Idris Elba, cheerfully phoning it in as the guy who recruits Tyler to this new job, and Olga Kurylenko, piteously emoting her way through a couple of short scenes as the ex-wife.

Also, this is not the last we have seen of Rake and there is a possible spin-off featuring Elba's mysterious character who made a brief appearance in this sequel.
