Agong and the Queen Congratulate Cheak Like Hou on Para Badminton Championship Title

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed his congratulations to Tokyo 2022 Paralympic champion Cheah Liek Hou who won his seventh men's singles title at the Para Badminton World Championships.

Also expressing congratulations is the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandaria.

"May you continue to be overflowing with excellence," as the Agong and the Queen through a poster shared on the Istana Negara's official Facebook, today.

The 34-year-old athlete clinched the SU5 (physical disability) singles title from her main rival Dheva Anrimusthi of Indonesia with a 21-14, 21-12 victory at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, yesterday.

However, Liek Hou and his partner Mohamad Faris Ahmad Azri lost 13-21, 12-21 to Dheva-Hafizh Briliansyah Prawiranegara in the men's doubles final, short of winning his sixth title for the event.

Liek Hou emerged as singles champion in 2005, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 while for the doubles category, he won the championship in 2005, 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2015.

He lost in the men's singles semi-finals to Dheva in the 2019 edition.
