A total of 11,187 children between the ages of five to 11 in the state have received immunization shots through the National Covid-19 Children’s Immunization Program (PICK Kids) until yesterday.

Director of the Kedah State Health Department, Dr. Othman Warijo said the number covered 4.4 percent of the total number of children in the age group, which was 254,100 based on statistics from the Department of Statistics.

He stated that of the total, 20.1 percent or 51,152 children had registered to take the vaccine on the MySejahtera application.

“Based on daily records, a total of 2,109 injection doses were given to children in the state yesterday.

“The national target is to achieve 50 percent of the first injection by the end of February,” he said when contacted here today.

He further added that to achieve the target, the Kedah State Health Department (JKN) took steps to open Covid-19 vaccination facilities for children in hospitals, health clinics and all Vaccination Centers (PPV) Offsite.
