A Father's Love: Creating a Mini Water Theme Park for Family and Community

In a district in Selangor, a businessman named Shukrie Ab Rahim, aged 37, has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to his six children, ranging from three to 11 years old. Motivated by their love for water activities and the limitations imposed by the Movement Control Order (MCO) in 2020, Shukrie embarked on an ambitious project to transform a mini garden behind his house into a mini water theme park. This heartfelt endeavor, initially born out of the need for home-bound entertainment during the MCO, has now become a source of joy for his family, employees, and even the wider community.
The plot of land, once dedicated to growing vegetables for self-consumption, evolved into a 21 x 15 square meter mini water theme park over the course of a year. Shukrie's journey involved meticulous planning, ground excavation, game installations, tree planting, and overall landscaping. The park now boasts a swimming pool, water playground, water slide, mini zoo, and is surrounded by lush mulberry trees and vines, creating a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of commercial water theme parks.
To enhance the experience, the area surrounding the mini water theme park has been equipped with various facilities. These include gymnasium rooms, prayer rooms, toilets, booths, changing rooms, vending machines, and rest areas. Shukrie's vision was to replicate the atmosphere of a real water theme park, providing a comprehensive recreational space for family gatherings, company activities, and community engagement.
Shukrie emphasizes that the mini water theme park serves as a space for family and relatives to gather, fostering stronger ties among the large family of around 60 employees. The park has also become a venue for corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. Shukrie extends invitations to orphans sponsored by HALO Prihatin Jalinan Kasih House in Cheras and HALO House Prihatin Ainul Kasih in Pasir Gudang, Johor, offering them the opportunity to enjoy leisure activities within the park.
The heartwarming story of Shukrie's mini water theme park gained widespread attention after his wife, Norashikin Nordin, shared it on TikTok. The video, uploaded last October, has garnered an impressive 4.7 million views, capturing the imagination of viewers worldwide. Norashikin, currently pregnant with her seventh child, has received both positive and critical responses, but she embraces them all with open arms, emphasizing that the purpose of sharing the video is to preserve precious memories.
Shukrie Ab Rahim's dedication to creating a mini water theme park behind his house is a testament to the extraordinary lengths parents go to bring joy to their children. Beyond being a family retreat, the park has evolved into a space for community engagement and corporate social responsibility, embodying the spirit of sharing happiness with others. In a world where acts of kindness and generosity often go unnoticed, Shukrie's mini water theme park serves as a beacon of inspiration, reminding us of the power of love and the importance of creating lasting memories for our loved ones.
