A small act of kindness can mean a lot to some.

This kind-hearted shop owner in Penang gave an electrical fan to an elderly man with disabilities (OKU) after realizing that he did not have enough money to pay for it.

Taking it to Facebook to share her experience with the man, shop owner Effa Asyifa touched many with her story. Effa is the owner of Dr Kipas, an electrical fan shop in Seberang Perai, Penang.

Effa stated that she recognized the man the moment he stepped into the shop.

The familiar face was none other than the ‘pak cik’ who went viral on social media a while ago for selling chilli. Although she knew that he lived nearby, she had never met him prior to this.

“I also knew he was an OKU. So, I tried not to show that I was sad about that in front of him,” she said.

Effa told us that the pak cik wanted to purchase a good fan because the weather had been really hot. She did not know his budget and proceeded to tell him the price of the fan he wanted.

However, she soon realized from his demeanor that he had not enough money to pay for it.

Despite that, Effa took a chance on kindness and offered to give the fan for him for free.

“When I told him that the fan was free, he teared up as he was so thankful,” said Effa.

“Initially, he said that he would come back to the shop once he had enough money, but I refused and told him to take it for free.”

Not only that, Effa even helped the man load the fan onto his motorcycle.

“I was so determined to not drop a single tear in front of the pak cik. However, I failed when his prosthetic leg came off while he was trying to start his engine.” She then quickly helped him fix his leg back on.

“He sells his plants every day and rides a motorcycle everywhere despite his disability. I’m so thankful that God brought this pak cik to my shop. He’s such a great human being in my eyes,” added Effa.

Effa’s encounter soon touched the hearts of many throughout the country, with netizens praising her acts and stating that she was a role model to many.

While times have been uncertain since the pandemic, it is important that we stay united that help each other in every way we can.
