The Malay language film which recently caused a phenomenon in the country, Mat Kilau: The Rise of the Hero will be screened in Indonesia from August 31.

Director, Syamsul Yusof, said that he and the film production company had received an invitation from a cinema in the neighbouring country to screen Mat Kilau.

I also have followers from my previous films in Indonesia. Munafik 2 especially because Munafik 2 is the highest-grossing Malay film in Indonesia. Thankfully, I have strong support from the cinema and the audience there,” he said.

Syamsul added that the presence of Indonesian action star Yayan Ruhian in the film directly contributed to the demand for screenings in the neighbouring country.

Before being screened to the public from August 30, the film ‘Mat Kilau: The Rise of Pahlwan’ will also be screened four days before the date.

However, Syamsul said, at the moment, his party is still conducting discussions with the cinema industry in the country involved.

Mat Kilau set a record in the country’s film industry when it recorded ticket collections amounting to RM96 million in the 40 days of screening starting June 23.

Currently, the film featuring a cast of great actors such as Datuk Adi Putra, Beto Kusyairy, Fattah Amin, Johan As’ari and Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan is still being screened across the country including in Brunei and Singapore.
