Three years ago, Janet Fanaki’s husband, Adam was diagnosed with cancer. He had the most aggressive form of brain cancer, glioblastoma which took a toll on the lovely couple.
“It was like a bad dream,” recalls Janet.
“As soon as we knew why he was experiencing the symptoms we made it our priority to gather the best team around us for support, ” she told GNN.

The couple looked high and low for the best treatment which led them to St. Michael’s Hospital in downtown Toronto. Adam underwent a full craniotomy at the hospital which was a success and continued receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatment at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Janet firmly believes in the good that came out of their entire ordeal. Through her observation of patients and workers at the hospital, Janet was inspired to create a website aptly named “Resilient People”.
Speaking to Newswire Canada, she said, “RESILIENT PEOPLE showcases positive stories from relatable people who have overcome difficult circumstances and are helping others. The website also provides a forum for experts to share techniques for building resilience.” Janet, a public relations consultant, was able to put her writing skills to good use by narrating stories of these “EXTRAordinary people”.
