Many of us grew up listening to the legendary Alleycats, one time led by brothers, Loganathan and Datuk David Arumugam.

Recently, David returned to entertain his fans and also promote Penang with a new compilation album.

“The Story: Pearl of the Orient” was produced by Persatuan Anak Seni Pulau Pinang (PASPP) and is a compilation album featuring 12 artistes born in the island, including David.

According to PASPP honorary chairman, Mohd Mazlan Ayob, the album was first produced by PASPP to promote Penang to local and foreign tourists.

He said the project started almost two years ago when the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented following the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We gathered numerous artistes from Penang, including David to work this project,” he said after the launch of the album recently.

Apart from David, others involved in the album which features 12 new songs, include Boy, Aswad AF, Fazlin, Bob Sentuhan, Gee, Jasmin, Faradik, Epol Penang, Kolin, Kamal CRK and SAM.

During the launch, David said he took a short break from the world of singing for two years after the country was hit by the pandemic.

“Mazlan expressed his wish to work with other Penang artistes to produce this album and I agreed in the hope that the songs can promote the state to tourists and help artistes hit by the pandemic,” he said as reported by Bernama.
