Love is a powerful thing and when you love someone, you would want to do whatever you can to help them.
A devoted 79-year-old man paid, visited a beauty school to take lessons in hair and make-up in order to help his struggling wife, who can no longer get ready by herself.
The loving husband visited Alberta’s Delmar College of Hair and Aesthetics to learn about hair and makeup skills.
He told director Carrie Hannah that he was interested in learning how to use the curling wand.
It is apparent that his wife’s vision was deteriorating and as a result, she tends to burn herself during the process. Determined to assist her, he wanted to learn some skills so he could assist his wife during her process of getting ready.
A student taught him how to operate the curling wand and demonstrated it on a mannequin to protect his wife’s skin. He further asked for tips on applying her mascara.
“My staff and students were so touched by his sincere wish to help his wife of 50 plus years,” says Carrie.
“He lovingly pulled pictures from his wallet, showing everyone his wife, and boasted about how beautiful and talented she has always been. Her appearance has always been something she has taken pride in and it’s important to her so therefore important to him.”
“He is turning 80 in May, and I think he is also a very brave man for stepping into a hair college and asking for lessons on styling hair, as I don’t think too many men would do that. In an age of staged social media photos, it was really great to see an authentic real human gesture of love,” she said.
Such an inspiration to young couples out there wishing to spend the rest of their lives together.
